"...attack on 2 WHEELS..." I meant to say dude fat fingers...

...And If we start thinking alike one of use should seek professional help

Look forward to following the writeup m8

And my internet-expert opinion is go Longfields/Spidertrax's straight off the bat. Helped a mate put em in his Zook without too much bother. No breaky breakys yet

you were very unlucky to end up with a drum brake rear, they are few and far between. they only used them for the pov pack models for a couple years.
if you want to go to disks, do it before you get too much $ into it. the lockers for disk and drum axles are different.

cv's will be pretty reliable on 38's. they are the weak link, but will probably still handle more abuse than the strongest link on the D30. you will find that you won't break any untill you start to drive stuff much harder than what you were willing to throw the old setup at.

what are you doing for steering arms?

I bought the diffs complete, with lockers and Genuine 4.6 ratios in them. If it's the case that I'll have to change the rear locker to do a disc brake conversion, it's probably unlikely that I'll do one.

What's different about the drum axles at the centre/locker end though?

Unsure about what we'll be doing for steering arms as of yet, but we definately want high steer. We'll be keeping the Jeep steering box (although I'd love to go hydro, but no good for road use) and will have to connect the GQ steering components to that. Any suggestions?

running MQ knuckles is probably the easiest, strongest option. that is what i ran on the gq axle in my buggy. you can hook the drag link up to give you a very similar setup to what goatfawker has on his jeep. i once typed up a massive thread with step by step pics on outerlimits, but i think it got lost in one of the crashes. give me a ring if you want to know more about it - 0413 804 813. it is a simple job, but there are a couple of tricks to look out for.
here are some pics of how it looks on a gq axle with mechanical steering. this is my old maverick.
