Can anyone tell me how to change the map ozi chooses to use when driving around. It seems to want to change to the highest resolution map. But to actually look at another map or another part of the map it automaticly flicks back the the point on the map of where you are. Pretty frustrating when you wanna see whats on the next map. I am guessing that you have to turn of something in the settings or stop communication with the gps momentarily. Bit of a pain can anyone helpout on this issue,
Cheers
Chris

Go to the configuration (File -> Configuration, or Alt+C, or right-click the map then choose Configuration) and go to the Moving Map tab.

If you just briefly want to drag the map to look at somewhere else before the GPS synchronisation snaps it back to the current position then change the "Screen Update Rate".

If you don't want it to always check for a more detailed map then uncheck the "Always Check for More Detailed Map" box.

Or, open up the Moving Map Control (Moving Map -> Moving Map Control, or Ctrl+M) then you can quickly turn on/off the GPS communication, scroll map to keep position in view and check for more detailed map options just by clicking one of the buttons.

Having said all that, I don't actually use the full Ozi Explorer version in moving map mode, I use the CE version for that. So actually I'm just guessing! Hope it helps though!

Sounds all very logical to me. Thanks Monster.
Byt the way I went out on the weekend and the maps I calibrated worked really well. I would like to try and email someone my "saved track" to see if it works ok. It was a trip to the western side of Toolangi.Victoria. Cheers.

No worries.

I've just had a play around updating all my Ozi Explorer bits to the latest versions and it seems like they've done something really stupid with the img2ozf utility. Rather than it just converting images to Ozi's format, it now needs to have a .map file. It reads the image from the .map and then converts that. So you have to create your Jpeg (or whatever) of your map, calibrate that, then use the .map file to convert the image to the new Ozfx3 format. A bit stupid IMHO. Plus, for some reason it refused to recognise some of my maps because it (presumably) couldn't find the images associated with them. Despite the fact that Ozi loads them perfectly. Hmmm, I only had a brief look, I'll have to delve into it futher. Probably I'm doing something stupid!

No I dont think you are. I have only used this version of pc OZI. I have to have the image and the .map file for it to work. I copied all the .map files only and nothing. Once I put the images in vioala! It worked. I tried loading an OZF file and it did not recognize it. I dunno . I need to work out how to save and sent track notes and waypoints and all that kind of stuff now. (ANY TIPS)Butwrapped that i can see where I am going.

Hmm, yes. It seems that the new version of img2ozf doesn't like .map files created in older versions of Ozi Explorer. If I load the .map file and then save it then that (presumably) reformats it and fixes the issue. But that's a bit inconvenient when I've got something like 600 files to convert.

I'll badger the Ozi Explorer folks about it!
