Personally, my solution to this problem was to remove the stock head unit, then remove it's faceplate. Then I attached this with hidden hinges to the inside of the central console, as if in it's original position. It usely takes a bit trimming to get it just right. I should say it hinges out too. Then I placed my JVC MP3 CD Player in a dust cover and mounted it inside the double DIN space as far back as possible. I sealed it in with thick neoprene foam tape. Then with it all in place I closed the faceplate and sealed it in with black silicon. Then when it had set, with a really sharp stanley knife, I cut around the faceplate and VOILA! A sealed and HIDDEN Stereo system. Also if you set your speakers in their rollbar speaker box and then wrap over the top of it in material that is of similar colour then they are hidden as well. I have driven for years like this on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and now in the tropics north of Daintree and haven't had a problem.
