This is truly amazing. Check out this Landsat style image of the Lake and zoom in to 250km detail.

It is an up to date view of what is going on with respect to the water fill.

When you zoom out, it gives you a perspective of where this is all coming from….

Just got back from our cannonball run to the Lake. Got to Lake Eyre south only which is still dry, Lake Eyre north has water but can only be viewed from the air. South Lake will be full by June and they plan a regatta there in July!

Was an awesome experience, the outback is amazing, the Jeep did everything well including towing a Tvan, only wish we could spend more time there.
Will get some pics up later.

Gaday bigsuzi. Who was suggesting that the South Lake was going to fill? With the Warburton river system already receding it seems highly unlikely that enough water will pass through the Goyder channel from the north to enable a regatta. Would certainly be good if it did. It's unfortunate that you didn't have a little more time as the Oodnadatta track is one of the best outback trips to be done. Now you've got a taste of the outback you're no doubt hooked. Looking forward to the photo's.

In total it took about 18hrs to get there. As of Saturday, the bloke who is Victorian from the Lake Eyre Yacht Club said it would fill.
I did the Simpson a few years ago, this trip bought back many memories.
What did we do? Eat, drink and experience the outback so few get to see. The pubs are brilliant, the SA towns such as Burra and Peterborough are great to explore.
