i took 15 mins longer. possibly the beer breaks or the effects falling off motorbikes has had on my fingers, or both. but yeah, not a difficult job. unusual for a jk. i'm not looking forward to changing cooling sytem hoses, especially heater hoses and egr hoses. they're real interesting.

yeah there are a few problems working on the jk. i had been eagerly awaiting the release of the new ford ranger which on pre-release details and post re-lease figures was potentially the the best medium priced 4wd on the market. went to a local dealership today to have a look at one. sat the driver's seat, raised the seat up to it's fullest extent and could still hardly see over the dashboard, and the bonnet seemed to hide everything closer than about 5 metres from the bumper. lifted the bonnet eager to see the new 5 cyl engine. well i finally found an engine bay more crowded than the jk diesel and an engine more stupidly complex than the jk diesel engine. it was impossible to identify anything except the engine cover , a couple of turbo hoses and i finally found the turbo.nothing else was identifiable. let alone accessible. i thought a break down in the bush with a jk diesel was my worst nightmare till i looked under that bonnet. i looked round the engine bay for about 2 minutes, closed the thing, thanked the salesman for his time and scuttled back to my jk feeling it wasn't so bad after all. yes there is a new vehicle on the market more stupidly complex than the vm motori jk. the salesman couldn't understand why i declined a test drive.

Got my hoses on friday, thank's for the great service yet again Bill and DBOR, fitted them today without any problems, the drivers side is vey straight foward but the passenger looked interesting where it joined the intercooler to say the least. But just turn wheels full left lock and remove 3 plastic clips in te splash shield and you can access the hose clamp with a 1/4 drive ratchet and extension.

Pretty simple install. AEV Snorkel attached to air cleaner box had to come out as one unit for drivers side attachement to intercooler. Passenger side accessed from under the Jeep, laying on my back (most comfortable position for working), just pulled the inside splash guard away from chassis rail enough to get my arm in with a flat head screw driver.
Got Blue hoses, but put the mesh hose protectors from the old pipes back on and the blue is barely noticable.

yeah, i totally agree with you mate. undoing clips and stuff is the hard way. no need for it. lying on the back is definitely more comfortable. met a few sheilas who'd agree with that too.
