I've been turning nozzles upside down for nearly two years now & it hasn't worked for me at all .

Before the proper fix arrives, I've accidentally found how to clear the problem. I'd be keen for others to test it to prove it wasn't just a fluke.

If you can force some air into the filler you will clear the problem. I could actually hear the valve chattering as I did so. It's been fine since I did it. How did I achieve this?

I put the pump nozzle into the filler as far as I could, and got as close to an airtight seal as possible. I then pulled the pump lever. The first 5 seconds of flow (if you are lucky) is air only, and it seems sufficient to clear the stuck valve. The filler is 'blocked' but the back pressure is not sufficient to trip off the pump. The shot of high pressure air is enough to clear the problem (till next time).

Was this a fluke or a useable method?

interesting. certainly pressurising the tank would blow the valve open. this part of the cj fix for the problem, but it appears shortlived. the clattering could have been either the valve chattering or it could have been the sound of fuel in the breather tube being blown out of the tube in to the filler neck. have a careful listen next time and see if you can be sure of where the sound is coming from. but if this does work, all that is required is a short length of rubber hose that can be forced into the tank filler so you can push the bowser nozzle surround against it forming a complete seal and bingo , tank fills. good luck mate.
