I just did my 160K Service have been using the RYCO for a good part of that time. The O ring location was in the same position as the early genuine filters. I have a feeling it was moved to suit the eco diesel in the RAM as it has a different filter housing. Checked the seating of the oring in housing and it looks good.
Another point to add to the confusion is that RYCO and Coopers/Wesfil are owned by the same company GUD Holdings.

Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing

I will now use the Wesfil with the new oring location for a couple of bucks difference it may improve my sleep.

Thanks Lewy, I was aware of the GUD being parent, was told by my guy at Auto-One the two companies hate each other and are fiercely competitive so no love loss there.

Hhmmmm, when I bought this wagon 10,000km ago I changed all the filters as I don't trust people, thankfully I did the fuel as they never changed them at 40K, wankers, anyway I replaced the oil filter with a RYCO R2736P as stated in the RYCO listings, so this change, 50K, I swap filters the funny thing is the filter I pull out from the engine is a R2737P, the O ring is closer to the filter housing than the R2736P, my engine didn't even notice and having a good squize it does house fully so must be just the RAM 1500 oil filter housing thats dodgy, I also had the old carton the filter came in R2736P on the box, might check everything in future.

Many catalogues still have the other number.

Just checked Ryco website and R2736P is 2mm longer than R2737P . I use the Repco filter with gauze inside and outside of the filter medium and it is the right length for later models

Its all about the location of the "O" ring which really means bugga all in the Grands but is a problem in the RAMs .......... so whatever one you use is okay just use a 5W40 oil in C3 though.
