Drover, I didn't find the front T40 bolts too bad - once I let the rear gearbox mount go and jacked the box up about 20mm.
The oil cooler lines across a front corner one are a bigger issue.

Drover, I drilled 2 easy access holes in the front cross member and it made it a breeze, especially with my planned fluid change schedule.

I miss my walk under ramps so much, 80mm run ups now for all four wheels, chocked and it gives me a reasonable bit of room........ I just drain out 4 lts then pump in 3 lts when it starts to drip out the hole, then start the engine, foot on brake run it up and down the slots, back into park, door left open then I put the rest in and it all seems happy, do it quick because the bluddy soot oven starts to get hot quick.... at the moment the oil is 30 deg just sitting in the shed so the run from garage into shed gives it a swirl............ gonna drill holes next time.... having to spend a sh*t load of $$$ which I don't have, hang around for hours for a 30 min job at least the holes will allow me to get the bolts out without fingers/hands siezing up.

Default Drillinh Holes in Cross Member

Hey Everyone, I'm ready to change my gearbox oil next week.

Those T40 bolts at the front are a bastard to get to, so plan to drill two holes in the cross member.

I want to make the holes as small as possible.

But will need to cater for the bolts head size.

Has anyone done it ??

Anyone got some pictures ??

Was it difficult to do ??

Thanks

Robbo

Mate its a pain to do but well worth it, getting it lined up is the thing, I can't describe how I did mine but it was annoying, I measured, plumbed and marked the spot from 3 angles then guestimated, I was lucky, my holes are about 10 or 12mm, I have a T40 drive welded to a long shaft to make the job easier............... if you cannot get the vehicle high enough so you can at least roll over without bashing yourself then get someone with a hoist to do it, if your just laying on your back you will more than likely drill a crooked hole and be off centre....... make sure you punch the drill point so you don't wander, you need to be able to view the drill from 2 angles so you run straight as your drilling thru 2 sections of cross member..... put some grease on your bit to catch the swirl and crap like dirt and sand in the cross member... Afterwards I drowned it in anti rust goop.
