So not comparing apples with apples?

All cool. We already know which is the low range map, leaving just 2 maps to confirm. 1 is the high range map, the other yet to be confirmed. But not sure which is which.

I will make some basic changes and confirm which is the main high range map currently active. Then I will insert a variable resistor into the transfer case switch line so that I can mimic H2, H4 Full Time, and H4 Part Time using the resistance values above.

Then, hopefully this will bring the 3rd map into play. If so, I will get a fixed resistor on a switch and hopefully have switchable high range TCU maps. I will ensure the switch/resistor is wired such that it is "make before break" so it is never open circuit. Basically just have a switch across a resistor so when the switch is open the resistor is in play, but with the switch closed it just shorts the resistor and bypasses it (The new resistor, not the case switch). This resistor will most likely be in series, but I will measure the transfer case switch on my car first to confirm which of the positions it is using first.

If it works, the only problem I see is if the new resistor is active and the transfer case placed into low range. This will surely cause a fault code. Easy fix, just make sure the new switch is closed bypassing the resistor before selecting low range.

Still a month before I can try this out.......

Quick reply before I hit the bed:

The idea with the range switch as a map switch would work if you configure the low-range ratio to 1 and never actually select low range.

If you also want to keep low-range, you would have to connect all abs sensors to the output of the transmission, configure diff ratio 1 and low-range ratio 1.

There already are solutions for multi-map in EDC15 and it would be a more compact and easy to manage option than abs sensors and a separate switch.

I've got the NP231. It behaves the same in 2H as 4H with regards to the idle hang.
As far as I know there hasn't been a CRD or even diesel WJ/G with anything other than the 247 from the factory.

JeanLuke, did you mean the NP242 instead of NP245?

I was guessing that the DW map would be the same, but would you know if the gear changes happen at the same speeds also between 2H, 4H Part time, and 4H Full time?

I was going to leave multi-map until down the track, but might start reading up a bit more. Gotta do something while I'm waiting for the postman....

I expect all high range shift maps to be the same.

The M(anual) map is still valid, just that it doesn't shift higher than the specified gear when the lever is in the manual section.
Seeing that 1-2 and 2-1 are 0 in the Comfort map, that would mean Comfort is low range, Sport is high range and Manual is just manual

Well that is not what I was hoping to hear. Guess if it was possible, it would have been done years ago.

Would you know of any free effective legit alternatives to IDAPro?
