Reading the ad, and seeing the pics - hell no, I would not be impressed.

I guess lesson learnt, and one for many on here, IF YOU ARE BUYING A DIFF, ASK THE SELLER TO DROP THE HATS AND REMOVE THE BRAKE DRUMS AND TAKE PHOTOS.

Its only worth oil for them to do it, and if they have nothing to hide, they will do it.

Thanks for the warning. To be honest, I wouldn't have thought to ask a seller to open up a diff (or anything else) and provide photos of it. Though, I rarely consider buying something that doesn't have photos in the for sale post or at least an offer to send them by sms.

I've bought a few things off other members and haven't had cause for complaint yet. I have even put up the odd for sale and wanted post. The concern I have with a minimum number of posts before somebody can list an item for sale is that there is no way to ensure those posts contribute anything to the community. What is to stop somebody from jumping into a build thread and replying to every update with "Nice!"?

I don't have much of a post count, but I'd rather put up my extras for sale here where like-minded people could benefit from a lower price than if I flogged stuff out on gumtree. Then again, as I'm more of a buyer than a seller, it would hurt me a lot more to be locked out of seeing For Sale posts than it would hurt me to be locked out of making them.

The reason for the whine is obvious looking at the pics. Bad tooth contact.
The pinion grinding into the locker case is superficial for the mechanism of operation for the locker, it may be salvageable. Unless there is more damage than what can be seen.
I would be pissed off if i received this from what was described in the add.

Because you can go and read all of their low number of posts anyway and make a judgement call based on what they are posting. If this bloke had actually gone to D60's as per his ad you might think he would have something to say about it in a build thread or something. Think of the Min post thing as a bit Like a fleabay feedback score where you could go and read the feedback, good & bad before you make a purchase.
