Naturally he's hoping the investment will pay off, and for his sake so do I, but that car will need to be genuinely faultless for a very long time. Maybe we relate best to our own experiences, or those close to us. Many Jeep owners have experienced pretty much faultless service from their vehicle for many years and learned how to circumvent the dealer network for better and less expensive maintenance. Others have been stuck with a car that's been a bag of faults from day 1. A gamble yes, but the odds are always a difficult call.
two neighbours in my street , they are next to each other .

one just bought a hilux brand new $70K
the other has a TH . same price

the hilux owner was so proud of his leather seats .

value for money no contest . as for reliability well tbh i would be going with the trailhawk over hilux . Really there have been no major issues with the current wk2 . a few recalls , nothing major and can't say that for the "reputable" manufacturers who keep info from the public .

Yep, all comments are relevant, I might be just be lucky, early 70's new Toyota first service by dealer, not really done, so did the rest myself, couldn't afford the cost anyway, next new vehicle Holden badge first service, wasn't done fully and when I pointed out that the thing never got greased, the service manager put it up on the hoist to show me it was done, his grease was blue mine was yellow, all the grease was mine, the nipples had to be changed on the steering and you needed a flexy slip on connector, he conceded it wasn't done, rear shaft was but not front, never went back, years later with a ZG, the Jeep dealer was Nissan, Jeep, Suzuki and wasn't up to speed on Jeep and I didn't have the time or money to stuff around , continued doing it myself, WG didn't even bother, bought MB parts for 30% of the Jeep parts, sourced others cheaper and quicker form RockAuto, both Jeeps clocked up 280,000Km no dramas, serviced more than Jeep schedule and with non Mopar parts, Penrite Oils, Mann Hummel filters ................ This WK2 is heading in the same direction but I do realize not everyone can do there own spanner work, I have told folk to find a mechanic they trust and take their Jeep to them, the feedback I've had, has been good as they don't have any warranty claims .......Compared to friends with Cruisers, Nissan's etc and others the Jeep seems to be on par but the PR is lousy................ I'm no mechanic whiz just never had the money to pay for it to get done by others, then not the time to leave the vehicle for a day for a 30min job and now back to the start, Pensioner, no money to fork out $100/hr labour on top of overpriced parts...
