I was just thinking about this. Just called them as they said it should be going in yesterday... wrong!

Mechanic is still too busy. The panel beater said they'd call me when they get it in, so I could go & talk to the mechanic, but I'm not holding my breath.

I was at Bathurst one year. The day before, in practice, one driver put his Commodore into the wall on top of the Hill. To me it looked like a ‘write off’. They rebuilt it including new engine overnight and it was in the race next day.

I go to Bob Jane for a single tire puncture repair and it takes them 1 hour 40 mins.

Friday's here, called the panel beater, called NRMA.
I have the Kluger for another 2 weeks.
Mechanic hasn't even looked at it yet.

Oh yeah, this is what started it all...

Spoke to the smash repair again this morning. They verified the bent axle last week with a (different) mechanic, (well once I told them to take it back again & spoke to the mechanic so they knew what to look for, as they hadn't been told where the issue was correctly...)

Apparently no axles* in Oz, (funny that), so they have to get it ordered in, which will take another 6-8 weeks! So I'll be driving the Kluger for another 2 months by the look of it! I commented to the insurance rep when I called them to make sure I would not again start getting charged for the hire car, that at this rate, it would be cheaper for them to get one directly from the US and pay the airfreight, than to keep paying for the hire car at $62/day. (Another 6-8 weeks will be ~$2600-$3400! On top of what they have already paid for it...)

The hire car I have is costing them WAY more than the actual repair.

* They have to use OEM on suspension & driveline it seems. So even though there are likely some aftermarket axles in OZ, which would be stronger & better, they won't/can't use them, even when you can buy the pair for around the same cost as a single OEM from FCA. (Around $720 for one shaft I think they said.)

And I'm still a few hundred short on the payout. Chasing that up too.
