Only the 3L has the leaking seal, but all motors have to recirculate there fumes and vapours and stuff, but diesels suffer more from blow by so i would say any or all diesels would benefit from a filter system.

Interesting day...THE qld dealers sound more helpful than the VIC ones.We have spoken to all the vic metro dealers with prices ranging from 2200
to 1390. We have also tried head office in Melbourne who flat out denied it was a common issue and refused to help out in any way. Im now in the position where I had to get it fixed as we are going away for easter and I could not take the risk of towing with a time bomb within. I am also worried now as I was told it was a half day repair and since I told them I want every part returned to me they all of a sudden said it would not would not be ready for another day as the normal mechanic had a day off because he dropped something on his foot the previous day and his locked toolbox had a special tool locked in it therefore they could not complete the job. This was at 4pm even though i dropped the car off at 6am. Since we mentioned we may be taking a class action over this , their attitude seems to have changed. Tomorrow should be an interesting day!!!

for you guys interested in looking at photos of a swirl motor replacement, a guy on the North American jeep forum has done some photos, here is a link to the thread. The North American jeep 2005-2009 model is called a "WK" and the CRD was only an option in 2007-2008, so your Aussie jeep may not be exactly the same as the version in North America.

Very interesting since last post. Got car back on friday arvo, 30 kays and 24 hrs later engine light comes on and lose half power again... Had to wait till mon morning to call dealer who was very apologetic and came and picked it up monday morning. Had heard nothing by tuesday arvo so rang up to be told the newly installed swirl motor was faulty and would also need to be replaced.
Still have no idea when i am getting it back and to be honest I don't know how i will ever be able to drive it with any confidence. If a new part only lasts 24 hrs what the hell is going to happen from here on. Such a shame as the crd seems like a great engine apart from this huge problem.

G'day crdrulz,
Sorry to here that bad news mate,

The 3.0L CRD is a good engine and if we can just get past this bloody swirl motor thing i think more people would see that.

This second failure can't be oil leaking on it so maybe a bad install or they didn't fit new clips or something but it does seem strange.

Anyway keep us informed and good luck.

My vote goes to bad install. They'd never admit it though
