iv got stock suspension with 31's and i disconect my sway bar and i walk around most of the rigs that are up here (toyotas pootrols) you will be more than happy with 31's for a while and then you will want to go bigger.
from research iv done on the site and ppl iv spoken to i will be going with crdstus extra long travel 2.5 lift, diy highline, 33's and regeared.
if i had the money i would buy the aev highline kit but ill have a crack at the diy option first and if i stuff it up then ill get the aev.
good luck mate the options are endless of what you can choose to do but at the end of the day it will come down to what you want to do with your rig and how much you can spend.
get out there first and see how you go then look at upgrading to what you feel is right for you.

Start with 31's and a 2 inch lift.Drive it everywhere you want go.Then if you decide you still want to go bigger, sell the 31's and 2 inch kit to help fund your future plans.People (and I don't just mean me) are always looking for stuff like that on AJOR, so you would be able to sell it off pretty quickly.

I had 31's and 2 inch ome kit on my TJ and I went everywhere I wanted to go

How does standard suspension go with 31s? Don't they rub at all with disconnected swaybar?

ummmm it will a little bit but that can be fixed if you simply bumpstop then it wont rub...a stock tj has pretty decent suspension but you will find if your doing rock crawling ect your gonna get hung up on the belly plate where as the 2" lift will help you get past that!!

2" lift and 31's is a awesome set up, i was running it for a while and enjoyed it, once i got 33's they went straight on with the 2" lift too and i just added 1" coil spacers and then your set!

that way your not spendig an extra money, try plan for the future

yeah it rubs when iv got it fully flexed up but im not 2 bothered could always bump stop it but as in my post im upgrading it all anyway so no point.
u will get your belly plate caught up on a few things but just remember to take your lines acordingly and you will be fine.
with your 2" lift and spacers for the box you will still have to worry about the belly hitting on stuff as you only have lifted the belly 1"
just get out there and use it and it will give you an idea of what to upgrade ie if you keep hitting the belly with the driving you will be doing lift and sye is the way you want to go.
if you find you get caught up on your diffs obviously you need bigger rubber just get out there and see how you go

3.5" lift 33's, sye and dc shaft and you can go anywhere!!! EVERYONE here isnt made of money mate, the sooner you come to understand that the better! we cant all build our dream rigs straight up and YES there are ways around spending the big dollars but still gettting an awesome jeep no matter what you think!

if this guy wants to save some cash by all means he doesnt need ratios straight away but yeah it would be recommend once he has the funds to upgrade his axles with lockers and all that crap!

honestly mate try being positive a bit and give some of these new guys hope and guidance insted of tearing them down telling them they gotta spend bucket loads of cash to get their jeep where yours is!

my jeep has been a progressive build and i love it, take me anywhere! just sort out a list of things you want done and what way your gonna go about it so your not going through 2 lift kits and spending double the money when you dont have too!

they way i went about it was---

-all new fluids in the jeep, gearbox, transfercase, difs ect ect, put the good stuff in there
- fixed any issued it had when i bought it, worn bushes ect
- 2.5" complete lift kit with 31's
- then 33's
- transfercase spacers came out and sye and dc shaft
- 1" coil spacer lift all round
- body armour along the way like rearbar, tyre carrie, some spotties, snorkel and all that

and yeah mine is a decent rig

left on the today list..../

dana44 and 30 overhaulkits
4.56 ratios
maybe lockers if funds allow
truss front axle

but this will all be done at the same time as you need to pull the axles out to do it so you might aswell save some cash and do it like that....thats one of the reasons many people like myself put it off because it all adds but and pushes it into the thousands of dollars to do your axles

check my build and you can follow along how exactly i went about mine also jeeping it( richos slow build) and shanuyb's build thread, we are all running the same set up pretty much and loving it

At What point was this ever being directed at you!!!! and what are you drawing your experience on...!!
The problem with public forums is that everyone an expert. My reply is based on years of wheeling and many different setups on lots of different Jeeps (both mine and others) that I've built, help , fixed or wheeled with..and those who know Me and/or wheel with me I don't just pad replies because I like to dribble on...

"33's and stock ratio's are fine!" Based on your vast experience I guess. There are SO many reasons that this is wrong...

Feel free to offer advice on here but don't bang on and miss lead others based on ####..

Sorry for the hijack
