I must admit I have not had one rebuilt for many years but seems a little funny. I do have a good guy I can go to but is a bit of a drive. After talking with Denso they said it could be a slow process to get parts for this unit as it has not shown up on their system and it would show up if anyone was requesting parts or a replacement unit.

Might have to visit a customer close to my auto elec and get him to have a look.
Serious?? Ahh well gone are the days when they actually fixed starters and alternators hey! Wonder why we still teach 3rd years auto apprentices how to strip, test/inspect and replace the consumables when the "pros" wont do it!

For a temp fix could you tap the b+ pole down a thread size so you can still get a nut onto it and then do Jambo etc while hunting a replacement?

Matt.

Obviously more money in trying to sell a new one but only passing on what they told me.

Dropped into my auto elec and he said he would look at it but could not guarantee when I would get it back due to parts etc. He did comment that when it was arcing some serious heat would have been generated so more than likely has damaged something inside the alternator.

Fixing the pole will not get me an increase in voltage as that is my problem. 13.1 volts is not setting off any errors or warnings but I need over 13.1 volts to kick in the ctek in the camper. Not a problem for the Jambo but going from the Jambo down to Deua National Park for a week straight after. Not a good place to get stuck with underperforming alternator.

Jeepengines & jeepoverstock are one and the same, they have pointed me twice to the petrol alternator they have listed for the CRD, I have now given them the part number I need and have been advised it should be up on the web site later tonight.

I will give Denso a call on Monday to see what they have and tonight I will have a good look at the wiring on the alternator and check the connections.

Cheers Wilf
Found out that.....

JeepOverstock and Jeep Engines are not one in the same.

Jeep Overstock deals mainly in genuine parts, and some aftermarket parts all new.

Jeep Engines is owned by Jeeepart Recyclers and deals mainly in secondhand parts.

Both are based in Queensland although Jeep Overstock has agents throughout Australia and New Zealand

Give it a go mate (if the price is right). I used to own a BMW that developed a wonky ABS pump, many places quoted $1000 for a replacement, eventually found a place in Castle Hill that fully rebuilt the pump for $400 (removal and refitting included!).
