Default re

I went looking today, found 1lt packs of the 424 at the local Mobil service station,$12.50.The reference to being Falcon power steering fluid makes me curious as to how close it is to similar products marketed for the same purpose from Valvoline/Penrite ect.....

Yep have the same info BUT I'm running MS-10838 fluid in mine (clear) and the Penrite is for MS-5931 (red) and while the later stuff is backwards compatable the earlier stuff isn't and I'm just not game enough to chance changing the fluid type, besides the Mopar is about the same as the other brands, haven't worked out why though. In an emergency the Penrite would go in.
I stuffed up ages ago thought I had the 10838 in mine but I didn't and since I had bought the stuff in it went. Needs a change though as it's pretty crappy looking now.

Thats better................

Not too bad but does need some updating, doesn't cover the MS 10838 PS fluid and a couple of other specs but certainly gives plenty of info to cross reference.

Found Mobil 424 on the shelf in 1lt bottles at AutoBarn for $15, 100% mark up , also found Penrite PAS Fluid (power steering) at $34/lt at least at Repco it was $32 ($28 with RACQ card) last time I checked Jeep had the Mopar stuff at $19 for MS5831 and $26 for MS 10838. Will have to check Jeep pricing, they are never cheaper.

I was at Bursons today and they stock a power steering fluid for Fords that is the 424 fluid.

It's called P424 and costs about $14per litre.

Sorry I originally said F424, it's actually P424.

So we are saying now the Mobil 424 is rebadged as F424 as a ford power steering fluid as an alternative source for the TC. Or are we thinking of this for our power steering. What is the brand associated with this F424 or is it a Bursons only line.
