Default Latest maps now available from jeep

Just spoke recently with Jeep Wagga after hearing rumours that jeep has launched new map updates service. They claimed they would put 2022 maps on my 2014 for $120. Need the vehicle for half day.

I’ve read from people that have had it done that there’s a suspicion the recently released update is only really updated to 2020 maps - based on new streets, developments, etc… Definitely an update over previous, but I’ll stick with using free navigation apps on my phone

Spoke to local Jeep dealer today re the latest map update.
They stated the map upgrade takes the maps up to 2021 and that there are two different upgrades, one for 2014 to 2017 and another for 2018 up.
Also stated the upgrade on the pre 2017 cars depends on what version software the radio has as to weather the upgrade will work.

Personally I don’t do updates even on my other devices.
I’ve found that over the last “decade” that when they call something an “update”, what they really mean is a “downgrade”!
I noticed that when I did still do “updates”, after the “update” several features had been removed or modified on my devices, and that the features that were modified were made practically unusable by the “upgrade”! I also noticed that some 3rd party Apps that I’d downloaded “stopped” working after the “update / downgrade”!
I have a mate who has a son that works for Apple in their R&D, and he told me that what I thought was exactly right, he said his son told him that the “upgrades” were basically useless, and were aimed at “MAKING PEOPLE UPDATE THEIR DEVICE”! by frustrating them! Sounds about right to me!
So I won’t do any updates and if I can’t find an address on u connect, then I just pull out my mobile that gets “FREE MAP UPGRADES FOR LIFE”!

Dead on the money, I can personally vouch for that, starts to eat into what ever memory/ operating system is left and things start to stall, freeze, slow to load, one way to make you upgrade to a new version
