I tried to post last night but the logged in conection timed out so when I posted everything went into cyber space, sh*t I hate that

All you need is the base for the 70 amp four pin Narva relay and wire that in, same wires, after all the main feed wire is connected to the live terminal in the tipm about 6 inches away. I have been meaning to do it but swapping out relays is really easy and the last one I have put in has been working really well for some time but I did have a run of crap ones that only did less than 1,000 k’s to a couple of thousand

Is the trip feed to low or intermittent or the copper coil not producing enough magnetic force to hold the points together seeing gravity and bumps can work at separating the points due to their orientation except the Narva one has the points horizontal

Referring to the no country of manufacture back on page five, I have noticed lately that country of manufacture is missing on lots of products from China as there has been a backlash against their teaching us a lesson so no country of manufacture helps them. Just shows how quick they can act compared to the Western world IMHO

Yep I suppose a relay change beats an engine dismantle anyday ............ see doesn't that make you all feel better now ??? Drover thinking of others again...

Seems Narva should be made in Europe, Bosch Germany and Portugal while Omron is Japanese comes out of Japan and China while Hella is made in China/USA/Germany................... I wonder if an electronic relay would work better no contacts to arc and would handle fast switching ??

From what I can find it seems there are two Narva's:

Aussie Narva est. 1957 by Brown & Watson. This is indicated on the packaging for the products we're talking about.

Then there is Narva e.V a German company est. 1948 making various products, mainly lighting (not only automotive), which they clearly state are manufactured in Germany.

Given that Aussie Narva are too shy to declare on the website where their products are actually made, I'll stick with my first guess

Finally got around to exploring the guts of the failed Narva FP relay. You can see the pitting on the contacts which I forced open for the pics. No other signs of corrosion, melting etc.

Car would start after 2-3 tries, or start and then cut out after selecting a gear, suggesting the contacts were sticking intermittently. They would probably have welded together eventually.

Sorry the pics are a bit fuzzy...

Might be like some points where I had to give them a tizz with some wet and dry to get a clean contact and it does remind me of points and relays that the contacts couldn't sit flush against each other so would arc across the open gap until they burnt and opened the gap up, this could be what the problem is, small contact area and gap is causing them to burn which would also cause them the heat up as well..... might be the missing link in the problem............
