So an update,
I pulled both lines off the auxiliary cooler and ran the car, trans oil comes out of both? Dunno how? it should be flowing just one way right? Also the line that is supposed to be going back to the transmission the fluid is coming out alot faster and hot, compared to the side thats supposed to be coming out of the transmission

There's a.....mistake....there somewhere....you say the aftermarket cooler was installed because of the temp problem ???....the problem didnt occur after it was fitted by any chance ???....actually reads like the 'plumbing' is arse about face to me ???....Is the original cooler still in use ???....or the aftermarket cooler replaced/deleted the original completely ???....just trying to get my head around this....it actually sounds like everything is not flowing the way it should ???...obviously the oil exiting the box should hotter then the oil returning to the box, and be under pressure, as in its being pumped TO the cooler returning cooled....nothing in what you have reported makes logical sense.....suggest you give one of those 'Wizards' that are recommended a quick call

So the new cooler was installed after the over heating issues, the cooler is plumbed in in series with the factory cooler,
After doing some reading its looking like this is normal for it to come out both tubes as its usually a pressured vacuum system, so without vacuum it will prolly do this.
Still awaiting delivery of the thermostat to change that over first

I wouldn't have run it with pipes disconnected be scared something would wear... Outlet pipe will be hot and the return not so much the return running the wrong way would be because its just draining as nothing pushing it as the pipe is disconnected...... I always liked to fit the extra cooler before the original, much to the shock horror of some, my thinking was I would cool it down before it went and increased the radiator coolant temp, it worked as I could not only keep my tranny temp down but engine as well especially towing................... if the engine is getting hotter along with tranny temps then to me that points to cooler if only tranny temp then the thermo is at fault and temp rise due to poor flow but since you have an extra cooler added I would be looking at its plumbing as well if its rubber, a crack inside can cause a flap which will choke the flow as if you kinked the line, quick check is remove have a look, drop a pull thru to check if restriction and then reverse the hose so if it does have a flap it will be the other way.......
Just a thought bubble........

Running it with hoses off shortly should be fine, as its the only way really to see if there is proper flow, only ran it for about 1litre of fluid removal, as for the return line it wasnt just draining out it was full on pumping fluid, actually pumping it more than the outlet line to the coolers.
Engine coolant temps i think are completely seperate to trans temps in these as they dont use the radiator for trans, its run through the top portion of the AC condenser. So not really related to coolant temps in my theory.
Still hoping its related to the thermostat and still awaiting for this part to be delivered.

On these old bangers, the tranny cooler and a/c cooler are a combined unit seperate to the coolant radiator is correct....as drover said...the aftermarket cooler should fitted inline prior to the factory cooler...oil is then much cooler before being introduced to the factory set up....pretty sure when you replace the thermal bypass your problems will be solved...if not....ring one of the 3x workshops recommended and give them ALL the info you have given here...leaving things out will lead to a 'false diagnosis'...personally, the fella at All Grand Cherokee WILL take the time to listen to what you have to say before jumping to a conclusion...obviously all 3x workshops are VERY busy trying to make a quid, so phone time is 'nil return' for them (unless of cause you need a part)....AGC was on the phone with me for around 30mins 'explaining' to the RAA man/mechanic how to produce a forced regen on the dpf...now thats service !!!!....nothing in it for him, but a happy customer and bloody good reviews when asked !!!
