As far as alarms go in the garage. Go with motion sensors. If you go with the contacts on the bottom of the roller doors people can still cut through the door without setting it off. Roller doors arent hard to cut through at all.

Security wise just install a WiFi camera and hook it up to your home network and use software to monitor movement, send email or sms to alert you of someone intruding. I much rather being able to identify the culprit so you can break his damn legs with a 20lb sledgy, oops I mean report to the Police.
