Well I took mine in today to get the LHS brake light looked at & they punched in my VIN and lights & sirens came on stating torque converter recall outstanding!!!! they encouraged me to get it done ASAP, they have parts put a side for me. So I guess next time mine goes in (replacement steering wheel & brake light) my engine will get detuned to save the TC.

He says worst case 2 days in the workshop, they have done about 4 of them so far & some have gone over the next day.... Might see if the sales guy can loan me a CRD Commander as an overnighter as a test drive.

Default TC replacement and detune

So what is the general consensus?
To change the TC or not to change the TC?
From what I read we don't have any choice. If you read the owners (warranty) manual they say you will not have warranty coverage if you refuse this Customer Satisfaction Notice.
Who has had positive results, who has not?

I have had mine done and from what I can gather it drives a lot quieter and smoother than it did before.

I haven't noticed any difference in power - however I don't tow any trailers or anything like that and it seems to be the same off the road.

I did notice a change in the shift points though.

The positive for me is that it got rid of the 'binding feeling' i had in the tranny when I was taking off at lights (like it would clunk before I took off) - interestingly enough - when I complained of this sensation a few months before the dealer's mechanic said that it felt like suspension to him rater than transmission - go figure.
