But phsyical size isn't really an accurate way to measure strength/durability. The quality of the materials comes into play as well.
The JK is in a different class to a cruiser or patrol so its no point comparing.

It only takes 30 seconds under a JK on the hoist to tell it wasn't made for central Australia & that you're asking a vehicle to do a job it clearly wasn't designed for.
Take 30 seconds under a ifs 100s LC whats that designed for ?

Comfortable high speed dirt driving. Towing large vans around Australia. Excellent road holding.
Being a member of the Landcruiser Online group I've travelled with heaps of IFS 100 series and would go as far as to say the TD was one of the best outback touring vehicles ever built for Oz. Not many other vehicles could carry such a load in so much comfort over so rough a road & handle so well doing it.

second that. Big price difference, especially against a cruiser. Although, the cruisers arent built that tough, seen too many fall apart!

My thoughts are to do the interview and just give the journo the facts - all of them. Leave your emotion and opinions/judgements [good or bad] completely out of it. Don't get sucked in to making any inflammatory comments or 'memorable' quotes either.

As in this bit of fiction for example - 'Fourth gear broke and was repaired 10 days later by Joes garage after it was recovered to him at town 'x' at my expense. The dealer declined to help". See what I mean - no slanging off about how you were treated by anyone. Just the simple fact of what broke, when and where it was repaired and by whom. But not why it broke - this calls for an opinion which could land you in strife.

The journo willl write the story and you will not be acccountable for his comments/interpretations/ad libbing of your story.

let's know how you get on.

pretty much what i was getting at steve, an accurate complete account of what happened, giving cause of fault as you wish, but leaving out any wild emotional stuff. the journo will get the message about the truth as you tell it, without any emotional or rude remarks about chrysler. he aint stupid and will read between he lines and see the real problems we have. he will then print what he wants from the information you give. in the end he will extract what he wants and print that anyway, regardless of what you say.
