no sure how keen you are on the dog thing but you can buy fully trained guard dogs that will act without command when it comes to it.. say if someone touches your daughter and she screams or something..

alof of ooos and aaa's about this because people worry about them going nuts and not being able to be controlled but after reasearching into it ALOT i think it would be an excellent investment if i had the cash..

they are not cheap at all but IMO well worth it..

look into it.

The normal solar lights yes, but the 'sensor' solar lights turn themselves off after a minute or so if there's no movement until triggered again. If they're not being activated all night long then they easily last.

cheers

Common keyed deadbolt push pin locks on all the windows, and secondary holes to allow partial open locking (about 100mm). Full hardwired alarm system to every window with magnet switches. A few glassbreak sensors on the windows that they might try to break. Full perimeter protection with security lights. Dummy cameras down the side passages with security lights, etc. We don't have bars on the windows and don't believe in them. We also have a dog (a Lab) that would probably lick them but he sounds like he means business if the missionaries come to the door.
It didn't cost to much as I did all the wiring work when the house was being built and its hidden in the walls. The peace of mind is worth the effort.
Its sad that Australia has degraded to the point of needing all this stuff to feel safe. I remember growing up and leaving the house for a month totally unlocked when we went on holidays. I guess the low life scum just cant help them self now.

Whatever you chose to do, just remember that your safety is more important then any possessions. No use in bringing a baseball bat to a gun fight right?

Right, and they wont come back again!!! It's not the property that is the concern it's the safety of your family. I have 3 kids, either of the eldest (13 and 11) could have got up for a drink or to sneak a snack and then what would have happened. Anyway, it ain't happening to me again.

Cheers
Steve
