i see your point seacomms, and that forum thread you linked to is a good solution, I also thought that they may just be touching at the front of the panel also, they aint though, less than a mill..but still clear, ( i guess i put it down to no two jk's being the same) there is a rubber thingy (technical term)that is built into the latch although not as thick as standard. Will take a few months i figure for the rubber under the latches and between the hood to compress a bit, and after a re-tension of the bolts it will then touch i think, will grab some adhesive rubber stripping when i get a chance

here is a badly lit pic.. 4am after work in the freezing cold makes for a crap photo.

cheers

edit- on looking back at the pics in my previous post it sure does look like they are touching

Good stuff. Was just concerned you may have had metal to metal (or paint to paint as the case may be) on that front edge. Dont need any more reasons for rust, they come with enough from the factory!

Same here, what did you do to fix it? or did you get it fixed under warranty?

If you're lucky they will fix it and when re-assembling tear the paint and it will rust again afterwards

Touch wood the body and all fittings are still in perfect condition, in fact, better than a lot straight out of the showroom. The drivetrain on the other hand... The was pre rusted from the showroom to save me the hassle

Missus took the Jeep to work today (as usual) and I got a txt when she got there saying its hard to keep the revs down now as it sounds so much better all she wants to do is accelerate... There goes the fuel economy!
