Jeeps Unlimited - used to be HUGE. Heck the TJ section alone has over 1.5million posts - but it's all but dead now.
IMHO For clubs & forums alike I believe the secret is not how many new members are attracted but the retention of existing members thats more important.
I think the like function is a really good feature even if it's at the expense of some posts. Infact I think activity should be measured more than just posts. thinks like PM,s Likes, Chats etc all help show an underlying activity.
To an extent I think Facebook /twitter/instrgram is to forums, what forums are to magazines.
I think there should be less stickys in most sections heck maybe haave a sub-forum just for stickys.
Maybe it's time to re-instate the CoreCrew

Maybe there are no more questions to ask!!! Have we posted every Jeep related questions/query/comment there is???

I think the JK, Grands etc are getting less heavily modified or rather more easily done, they are pretty capable out of the box and you can buy almost everything you could want for them. Back in the day we dragged the welders out, cut the ends off rubber mallets and bolted in ford wagon leaf springs. Now it's pick a lift, buy it and bolt it on and there's only so many times people can asked about DW or AEV lifts etc.

On the upside the Jeep community is still strong, and growing, so there will always be a need for places like this. Other forums have started to fade away because they are multi make (Outerlimits, 4WD Action, Overlander etc) and have lost chunks of their contributors to less generic forums like Ausjeep. I haven't visited or posted on any of those 3 for years now, I don't even know if they still exist, same goes for JU and NAXJA, Ausjeep has all the answers now.

Cheers
Steve

Wooders and Steve f are right.

There is still a underlying activity. Even though on the surface it seems to be quieting down. I don't see AJOR goin down soon.

And as for other forums, meh. AJOR, xjtalk and sigmagalant.com are the only ones I frequent. These are, IMO, the only ones worthy of time and effort as the others are full of know-alls, bullies, ar5se holes and just general ignorant pricks.
So this also will go in AJORs favour.

cheers

I agree with most stuff said, however I do not think AJOR has ALL the answers though. My WJ is definitely not easy to mod, heaps of research, running around, cutting, fabbing. I don't post up here because the fun police just shits me. Oh..that colour is too blue, it's not legal. Your arse is too big, it's not legal. Just a wet wet blanket, a downer.

How about mini comps every month like Model of the month for various models. Flexi Fridays, Weird and Wacky Wednesdays type, dare I say Tittilating Tuesdays stickies to add to the more serious stuff.

This way people with serious offroad mods as well as plasti dipped and chrome alike could post their pride and joy up.
