I never read the news article but I did see it on the news and I was appalled. I also have two Kids and whatever drove this man to do what he did is obviously beyong our understanding.

Have oyu ever done something in your life that you regret later when you have a clear head ? Is what he did any worse than the arseholes who drive pissed and then kill their passengers or worse inocent people in an oncoming car. I vaguely recall a recent drunk driver case where the father was driving ppissed with his kids in a car .... he survived they didn't.

As for what good is he to our society, who knows he could be a doctor for all I know............
i dont think you realise what he did, he grabbed his own daughter and chucked her off a bridge purposly, yeah i have done alot of things i regret, but to this extent is just stupid to compare... clear head or not, someone that is cold enough to throw a little girl off a bridge deserves a 300 mag to the head.

Aus-Kj and Moses - you are kidding aren't you?

This man has a use to society????? - undoubtably he will spend many years behind bars - whether jail or a mental institution (or whatever PC term they are called now) - costing us taxpayers thousands of dollars each year and then one day walk free (most likely) to live his life however he can.

I'm sorry, but this piece of scum THREW his child off a f'n bridge. Surely this is simply inexcusable! I can't believe there are people who are willing to consider this person worth keeping in this world.

We put down animals for far lesser violent acts under guise they are a 'dangerous animal' - perhaps we should expect more from humans - we are capable of thinking out our options and choosing and this scum chose this action.

Sorry, but you bleeding hearts just drive me nuts - I'm willing to bet that if someone hurt your family you would have a far different view to those you have expressed here.

Oh yeah - I'm a father of two girls 4 and 2.

I'm not saying us personnaly in this case but generally. It seems that we are all quick to judge and dole out extreme punishments.

I do not belive punishing this man will help him or deter others as the people who commit them are not thinking about commiting a crime more about ending the helplessnes they feel at their situation. I think he will punish himself more than anyone else could.
still doesnt justify it, he is responsible for his own actions. Society is always too quick to blame others

we will find out in time.
when i saw the picture of him in the car it certainly looked like he had realised what he had done. He probably is mentally ill but he is still responsible for what he has done

Well said AusKJ & Moses

It's not a matter of being a "do gooder", imo it merely shows an evolved individual.

The average Jo Bloggs has no idea what state of crisis this country's mental health system is in. A couple of weeks ago a GP girlfriend of mine referred a deranged woman with 4 kids & a husband to the Logan Hospital for immediately psych assessment & treatment (she had previously attempted suicide a number of times) .... she sat in a chair in a corridor for 3 days (no beds for looneys) and ultimately her husband has to sell assets to get her into a private practitioner. Virtually no Psychs in this state will bulk bill and have waiting lists months long apparently!

This same GP's partner took his own life just a few short months ago after several attempts over 3 years, so no-one is more accutely aware of her than the mental health system problem ... she's spoken to all & sundry to increase awareness, get more funding, get beds for those in dire need ... all to no avail. The Director of the Mental Health Unit in Sydney attended his funeral ... bit bloody late!
