Never had the "service 4WD system" come up but the ESP BAS did and I heard the brakes grinding, thinking I was wheel spinning, how odd! So I might have same issues as yours. Did you replace the wheel sensor and the solenoid plug?

Yep, all 4 sensors and the loom to the diff. I get the sensors from Rockauto, round 25ea i think. I keep spares when i wheel as well.

I fill the connectors with some dielectric grease before putting them back in to stop water getting in as well.

Ah, before I spend money on a set, I might just try and fill some dielectric grease into the connectors and see if that solves the issue as it only happens after a river crossing. Going through mud is fine though. That probably triggers the lockers to switch off, might shove some grease in those connectors too while I'm at it.

Yeah, water shorts the connector out and the tcm cant see the wheel speed. The clay water that comes with glasshouse mud gets in there bad.

Great info guys, I've also experienced the Service 4wd system after a water crosing, hopefully a little bit of grease solves the problem.

I just found a small cut in the wheel speed sensor wire which is probably causing the issues I stated previously. I just filled it up with sika flex and I'll see how it goes at the next crossing. Hopefully solved.

I only get the lights on if I hit a dip a bit hard, mainly in the bush. I though this may be caused by having a lift. Any ideas?
