Just posted a question regarding this manufacturing defect of Jeeps FB page....... not acceptable that they know about this and have recalled vehicles elsewhere but leave us hanging.
I just read that doc, does that mean my 07 is included in that recall???

This is a US document... lodged by Chrysler to the NHTSA ( the US based safety regulator ) Jeep Australia have done SFA about it.

Feel free to comment on Jeep Australia's FaceBook page... or anywhere else you see fit - a serious safety deflect like this should be addressed by Jeep Australia.

Wasn't there some new warranty law passed in the states that this falls under? 8 years or 80k m ?

So in the states they have replace them but here is still only our consumer laws and factory warranty which if expired you've gotta open your wallet.

I didn't think safety recalls had an expiry date? Imagine if someone crashes and air bag doesn't work. Would love to see that court case.

Problem is if the airbag is not going to work then there is an annoying chime and a warning light on the dash so the onus would be put back onto the driver/owner to keep the vehicle properly maintained I would imagine. The reason it only starts from 2008 is the 2007 is covered separately in the US by a 10 year warranty on the clockspring due to its failure rate. Only thing I can think of is it must be a different part number.

OrsmJeep - given what you have just done and the lights you have my guess would be either a damaged wheel speed sensor or cable. This will stop cruise, abs, esp ect as they all rely on wheel speed info.

Would be no different I think than a brake line failing or a wheel speed sensor preventing abs from working in an emergency. Vehicle not properly maintained. As I understand it jeep had their hand forced on this one and it wasn't voluntary from what I've read elsewhere.

The lights on so you know it won't work.

Ah ok, I didn't realise that the light would always come on to indicate a problem.
