Hey Guys,

We had our test fitting on Saturday and I'm happy to report the WK2 Lower Front Guard is very close.

We're making some tweaks to the corner pieces, corner brackets and ACC Camera Guard so they fit a bit better behind the lower front fascia. We're planning to extend the corner bracket a bit further back so the windshield washer bottle is fully protected. We're also making a few changes to make installation a bit easier.

I expect to have the next prototype before our Weekend Wheeling trip to LCMP. Just in time to give it some really good off-road testing.

Cheers,
Bill

That looks great Bill! Can't wait to get one of these and the WK2 Sump Protection Plate.
I might just wait until this comes out and buy both at the same time

Hey Guys,

I still need a MY11 WK2 to finish the test fit on this product. If you have a MY11 or a MY13 Trailhawk and you're willing to bring it in for a few hours so we can test fit several of our products, please send me a message. I'll make it worth your while.

Cheers,
Bill

After more than 12 months in development, getting every detail just right, the WK2 Lower Front Guard, (http://www.chiefproducts.com.au/prod...er-front-guard) is finally ready! I’ll be opening the website for pre-orders next week, with a ship date of June 15th.

This has been an extremely popular product so I encourage you to get your pre-order in early.

We’re still working on a few of the supporting bits and pieces; like the install instructions, FAQs and more photos. But now that the design is 100% complete, I wanted to get it into our customers hands as-soon-as-possible.

I’ve posted a few photos of the final prototype, (see below). I’ll be posting more photos (especially some actions shots) as soon as we have the final production model in our hands.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an update, so here’s a bit of info on what’s been happening. There will be versions for Australian & North American WK2s, as well as versions for ACC equipped WK2s and non-ACC equipped WK2s. We performed extensive on and off-road testing, which lead to numerous tweaks and improvements. We reduced the fully installed weight to approximately 15kg without sacrificing strength, which was quite an engineering accomplishment. The low installed weight was very important, but we also wanted the product to be economical to ship. Rather than 1 large piece, the WK2 Lower Front Guard breaks down into multiple parts that can sit inside each other when boxed up. Reducing the weight and shipping smaller boxes is great for the environment, but it’s also great for our customers wallets. We spent a lot of time on the fit-n-finish of the product, (taking extra time to account for manufacturing variations in the WK2 from the factory). It was very important to me that everything lines up perfectly and is easy-to-install. Since the OEM lower front plastic fascia can be installed over the WK2 Lower Front Guard, the fit-n-finish was something very important to the final product.

As is our custom now, we're building the product out of high strength 350 grade steel with zinc primer for corrosion resistance and heavy duty satin black powder coating. We include high tensile bolts, Nord-Lock® Washers, Anti-Seize and our innovative Bolt Head Protectors.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m heading down to Tassie with my family for a long weekend for my birthday, but I’ll be focusing 100% of my attention on the launch of WK2 Lower Front Guard when I return.

Cheers,
Bill
