I see where you are coming from but most jeep drivers dont really care that their front bar is compliant or not. As long as the item that they buy works well and is at a good price. We in Australia dont have the huge population to market to like America does and I feel that all the effort of getting one to production would be wasted. The RSE bar that i have has the recovery points mounted on the section that slopes under the car and the hoop slopes back rather than upright or forwards and mantains the general shapeof the car and i dont think it would have any problems passing the regulations. But thats just my opinion and everyone is different.

I like the idea of the ends meeting the flares. What ever happened to the upswept ends for the DBOR bar?

i realize a lot of people dont care, but having the compliance is like insurance and peace of mind. If something did happen you're covered. Dont want to lose my house or injure someone because I was too lazy to go for compliance.

I know I care. Hard enough for me to get the bar. Can't afford to have it lose insurance coverage if anything happened. If I was that rich, I wouldn't need to get insurance at all. But as for covering others in an accident, I don't think ANYONE would want to pay that.

I do not want to replace the factory bumper. Neither do I want a nudge bar which is mounted under the body and comes up and over the front of the factory bumper.

I am also wondering about those two screws which go through the top of the factory bumper and seem to locate it to the chassis. Whether a small tube type bar with light tabs welded on and using those two screw points as anchor points is feasable.

Another thought is to get and fit two separate 'U' type brackets mounted where these screws are with the 'U' bracket fitted sideways - one at each screw point - and use these to fix the driving lights to.

I'll have to have a look at a JK with no bullbar attached to see what you mean to see if I can make something. My JK came with a bar already.

Anybody in the Mornington Vic area with standard bumper want to let me have a look at theirs?

A front bar that actually looks like a stock one would be something I would definitely go for if it matters, the AEV & ARB ones are the only ones that I have considered as they dont have as many gaps as others, makes the JK look more factory but not (if that makes sense)
