LOL, pass the popcorn.

Hymer how can you expect to be taken seriously when you try and start a petition about a specific situation with a vehicle then deliberately ask people who don't own the vehicle to sign it.

I'm amazed at the amount of people that buy a poverty pack and want it specced up to a luxury standard because they didn't enough research before purchasing a vehicle!

Default Jeep Laredo MY14 Camera petition.

G'day Timbo,

Fair comment m8.

As far as the Petition goes, I say read it and if you agree with my arguments, then sign it.

I outlined the arguments against the camera in it.

A judge or magistrate does not have to be an axe murderer to find one guilty in a trial, he makes a decision based upon the facts before him or her.

Yep, did do my research on the Jeep prior to buying.
Let me tell you a short JEEP history Timbo.

Signed and purchased the Jeep on 16th November 2012

Told it would be April, 2013 when delivered, I could live with that.

FINALLY delivered to me on 20th August 2013

10 months gestation period, delivered by cesaerian birth!!

The Export MY14 Jeep didnt start production in USA until April 2013

Frankston Jeep and Jeep Aust stuffed up the order and the Yanks never got it until June 2013

My Jeep Laredo Order

Jeep Laredo Diesel with QuadraLift, sunroof and all the standard stuff.

THE REAR CAMERA WAS NOT AN EXTRA

The rear camera was added to the Laredo by Jeep Aust as a sales incentive, nothing that any Laredo buyer had a choice in.

PROBLEM

Jeep Aust brochure and online adverts say that the Laredo camera is the same as the Higher spec Ltd and Overland.

We didnt say that.... JEEP DID.

So, what do we get??

A substandard el cheapo camera picture that would look nearly good in a 1966 Datsun Bluebird.

The camera even has a KIA mounting bracket.

I agree Timbo with you that not all customers do their research on vehicles and other goods.

Bit hard to do research on the camera when Jeep Aust are taking up to 4 months to get them in and retro fit them after delivery of the vehicle.

So yep, Timbo I do expect to be taken seriously on this one, Did my homework m8.

That same poverty pack (Jeep Laredo) would cost another $20,000 for a similar Landcruiser/Prado.

Overall love the Jeep Laredo, just dont love the bloody Jeep supplied camera as many others dont.

Here comes the Popcorn Timbo so just sign the Petition for me and we'll all be happy!!

One thing though, why does your petition specify the lack of guidance lines in the Laredo when this is clearly detailed on the web site. Has Jeep change the web site, otherwise it should not be in the petition. For the petition to be worthy it should be completely correct.

Default Jeep Laredo MY14 Rear Camera Petition

Fester, good point. You are right it should be 100% correct.

Their website does say "dynamic grid lines not available for the Laredo."

The key operative word here is "Dynamic"
Definition of Dynamic is; 1. noun; (of a process or system) characterized by constant change, activity, or progress.

The Ltd and the Overland models do have dynamic grid lines because they have a different Uconnect head which allows the grid lines to change position dependant upon the attitude of the vehicle.

But, Jeep Aust have supplied some Laredo camera's with STATIC grid lines for the Laredo's that is compatible with the Laredo Uconnect system such as the one below.

Thanks for the feedback fester.

Ah ha, must admit I didn't really take in the true reference to dynamic, rather just figured they were meaning none. As I expect most assume without proper clarification from the dealer.

Although the Laredo is the poverty pack as you call it, we are still talking about a vehicle that costs 50,000 odd dollars. It's nothing to do with a lack of research, its the expectation when you pay that much for a vehicle the equipment on it will be a satisfactory standard and anyone who has viewed the reverse camera in this car will no it's far from that.

My camera annoys the shi!t out of me, the lines aren't square with the car at all it just looks stupid. I was told by the dealer that it was just the towbar causing an optical illusion which is bullshit! I really want this fixed also and will sign the petition. BTW a poverty pack is a Chery J11 or a Mitsubishi Mirage at $10,990 Drive away... pull your head in.
