I import small and large quantaties for my business the government is pretty much turning a blind eye to gst on imports under $1000 for everyone bar large companies such as ebay, amazon, Alibaba etc. Legally a business is supposed to collect gst on behalf of the government but seriously how are they going to enforce that.
I could do an order for $500 and I don't pay gst or duties then place an order for $10000 with the same company and its the transport company that collects my gst on orders over $1000.
If you keep it below $1000 you wont pay a thing.
Actually had a shipment a couple of weeks ago worth around $3500 they stuffed up and sent me product with the wrong specs the transport company asked me for an invoice and it was delivered no duties. The replacement package came same thing delivered no gst paid. Not sure what happened they didn't pay it as far as I know and I certainly didn't but I was happy. Just treat all imports like we always have in regards to GST under $1000 and your safe.
So 2x UCAs arrived today from Rockauto via US forwarding (Shipito - California) total cost in AUD ~280 and literally 14 days... not as fast or cheap as direct from rockauto but OK as no rush...
Took full advantage of the changes and the 5% discount to load up the shopping cart.
Can't wait for it all to arrive and give her a 14th birthday overhaul
