Yeah your right I was thinking 5 speed set up as was in the WG, I quite like having seperate coolers about time really, works well in the 8 speed...
look forward to seeing if the new thermo switch works, I would pull the guts out of the old one anyway.

Well i have to thank everyone here immensely, especially farwest for all the help, the thermostat fixed it, now i havent seen it go over 75c at all, looks like old owners had completely gutted the thermostat removing all the internals thinking it would help or something, doing this causes an airlock in the coolers and fluid just goes straight back into trans.

Glad to see the problems fixed....dont thank me....I only relay what somebody else showed/taught me....no 'wizard'...just use a try this try that problem solver to eliminate what could be the source of a problem...you answered your own question when you said EVERYTHING had been replaced in your posts...only left the bypass to have failed as the source of the problem...there are some VERY smart, cluey, helpful, experienced guys on here...I am NOT one of them...great forum with great members....I learn everyday

Good to hear you were able to fix it. I'd be providing some educational feedback to Jeep using this link http://www.fiatchrysler.com.au/FCA%2...g%20System.pdf
explaining the repair costs you incurred due to the dealers lack of knowledge & how you were able to sort it out.

Cheers

Might be a different complaints avenue now that they’re Stellantis - but absolutely rip them a new one. I’d be having a STRONG word with the dealer’s service department too…

From my pre-purchase 'searches'.....the Dealership mentioned had/has a terrible reputation....an email to FCA/STELLANTIS surely couldnt go astray...a convo with the Dealer Principle about his workshop and his Dealerships reputation 'may' get a result...just what that is is entirely unknown....they ripped you for $12k min...going by the 'rough sums' I did....feel for ya mate...if anything is gained from this its...DONT use a Dealership...narrow down a problem to its source/part/location then use a specialist in that area...its fixed and alls good now...ENJOY !!!

I might be missing something but can't see how, if the plumbing is done right how one could get an air lock in a cooler, more likely when they dismantled the thermo valve they allowed the flow to run the bypass and hence take the shortest, least resistance way back to the box.........
I would certainly give them a serve... my advice is always use a specialist for Tranny, Brakes or Engine, they work on the part all the time and have the experience to know whats going on.... with these Jeeps you want a shop that works on Mercs, Benz's they will be familiar then..... the running gear is European along with the sensors.
