Judging by an MJOC run to the area last Sunday (and it's been bloody dry in Vic) the swampers will be a huge asset. We turned onto a track at 4pm and I said to the missus "i bet this turns into 4 o'clock hill" and sure enough, an hour and a half later we got out. This was a moderate run, also TW led a trip looking for extreme tracks with great success......also heard a Rangie on the UHF who blew a rear diff, also came across a modded sierra who had rolled a tyre of the rim on the hill. I ended up resting on my diffs with one front and a rear spinning freely in the ruts. A gentle snatch from a Rangie who happpened to be there and we were on the way.
I can't wait! How many days now?

Is it legal in Australia to flat tow with an A frame ?

It is legal to flat tow, but there are rules, AFAIK for everyone else but WA
they are basically the same as towing a trailer
towing vehicle must be rated to tow....
must have the usual lights
and if towed vehicle is over 750kg same as a trailer
it must have brakes that are operable from the drivers seat of the towing vehicle

in WA it's a bit more or less complicated
3:1 ratio kg tower to towed
you must submit an engineered drawing of your a frame
your towed vehicle doesn't need brakes if it weighs 1000kg or less
you must demonstrate the hook up and un hook process

flat towing a dana 300 you must have hubs on back or disconnect rear prop shaft so I'm told, or fry some xfer case bearings

I'm looking for a bus at the moment
