I'll throw in two bob...360 scout, I dont reckon cold oil will cause high pressure in filter...sure bypass will prob open more..but you always have a pressure regulating valve at oil pump for o/all system pressure...I have 20 yrs experience on diesels..mainly cummins-cat-detroit but have worked on large engines, (sulzer, mirlees ) Dave?!!...for my money, a centrifigal filter is the best thing you could do for oil filtration...its an inner steel cartridge that spins on a post...spun by oil nozzles much like a water sprinkler...can only be used as a bypass filter as it drains into sump after filtering....you'd be suprised at the black putty scrapped out of it at service interval...have also seen oil bypass valves with an insulated contact at full open position to create an earth for a dash warning light to indicate a used filter....

like the video says diesels have a larger filter not, the standard z596 is about 2/3rds the size of a z9 which i am now using and the oil pressure is now more consistent , i also spoke to an engineer at ryco a while back and told me no probs if its good enuff for toyota in their big turbo diesels then its good enuff for a small 2.5 td

I remember working on a Simca something or another station wagon quite a few years ago; it was early to mid 60's and the harmonic balancer was the oil filter- worked by centrifical force. It also had an alloy head. Chrysler Aust imported them but the french got very snarley when they found out Mopar were chopping them up and turning them into stn wagons. Its still going too[ local car] Just thought it may be of interest to someone.

Totaly agree with you mate. Would be good to see a XJ fitted with a centrifigal filter. But that will never happen, too messy.

Gojeep just intersted in what filter you think you will run in the future?, as most users I think will ultimately use what you recommend, keep up the good work on your website.
Cheers Andrew
Well I am now leaning towards the Z9 again ( but not for the money saving but extra filter area and cooling ) as both lots of advice I got came from the manufacture and the seller of the parts ( he is manager at Bursons and ex mechanic ) who may just want me to buy the more expensive one?
