Two design points:

1. The location of the spare wheel on the swingaway mount should not interfere with the opening of the flipper glass, and

2. The swingaway mount(s) should be easily removeable so that they can be taken off when not required (if my wife had to swing the tyre mount out of the way each time she wants to put some shopping in the back she would be distinctly unhappy)!

James; Dont think it would be too hard to do two instead of the one as the bar itself wouldn't change and if this takes off and my mate is keen to do them then maybe it should be a special request as of now all we have done is one similar to boilers.

02KJ, costing would be hard to estimate as he has never done one and is unsure of cost of all materials, then there is painting and the time fabricating etc. With regards to skidplates and tanks.... again who knows I haven't talked these points over with him as yet but might be another topic for the next time I'm down there.

Pipeliner: From what I can understand if anything the wheel is going to clear the glass and I dont think it would be an issue, however I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to the missus so it should be removable however the original mounts will be blanked off so then there's the issue of where to put the spare

Things that may be an issue is the weight may cause standard suspention to sag so then theres the cost of installing airbags and upgrading suspention.... oh well if we have to haha, 2 cutting the original plastic mouldings as trying to incorporate gomads design is too time consuming and I'm not that fussed anyway, 3 then hilift jack points may need to be reviewed as well....... plenty of questions that can only get answered when it's being built

Fortunately I've already got airbags for towing the camper, so that's not an issue for me.

Does anyone in Sydney have an old plastic bumber lying around I can work off of? Or does anyone know of wreckers who have a kj I can strip? Would make things much easier.

So far cardboard cut outs and lots of squiggels and so forth... main problem is having adrs etc due to the tow bar.... however ARB's bar has a towbar included in theirs... how they passed it I have no ideas!! So I decided to build one to fit to the chasis then bolt the tow bar over the mounting plates?? I'm heading to my folks place this weekend comming for the ol mans birthday... willl see what progress we can make then... we are also going to do the dual battery tray and install..... but the ol man is having a big bash Saturday night and not sure how up to fabing everyone will be will let you know...
