... because the pissy little stock cooler is not big enough.
The original design for the oil flow is through the cold side of the radiator ... and the auxillary cooler is the factorys' idea of an add on - for towing/whatever.
... but, as can be seen by the US jeep forum oil cooler upgrades ... the factory cooler is all but useless except for light duty needs.
On RHD models the cooler is fitted to compensate for the fact that the radiator unit is dangling
in the hot side of the radiator,
... i.e. ... in reality, RHD export models dont really have an "auxillary" cooler fitted at all ..
Two stock "auxillary" coolers and the radiator bypassed.
Inadequate - in my experience.
