I want to get something ADR tested which has some hope of protecting my car from a large sized 'roo hit.... That's ARB or... oh well that's about it really.

1. Who sells ARB in Sydney? Direct, ARB are quoting many more dollars than people are mentioning in this thread, even recent posts.

2. Does anyone know conclusively if ARB removed the unrated tow loops? ARB promote those tow hoops as a feature here on their web site, and even have a close up photo. The guy in the store who gave me the quote a few weeks ago told me 'it would be as in the photos', inquiry via their web site been un-answered for 2 weeks ish... I don't want to waste time ordering the bar only to have to argue about the missing loops, especially if it's a good vendor to deal with, since it's a hassle for all concerned when product is not as promoted by manufacturer.

Cheers, Richard

Just give them a call - 03 9761 6622. Should be able to solve the issue pretty quickly.

OK.... one phone call to head office, and two to Moorebank and at last a callback! The tow loops are definitely gone. For reasons which have already been speculated upon in the quoted thread. Oh well at least we know.

I forgot to ask if the stock tow loop is still accessible. Can anyone with the ARB bar who is still subscribed to this thread confirm?

Cheers

Richard, No mate there is no provision for the standard tow hooks with the ARB bars.

On that note, the loop on our models is not a tow hook it is a tie down point for transportation - as is the rear one!

I know of plenty of people who use them with no problems though...that's not to say I would use them but anyway..

You'll have to buy second hand if you want the loops. There's no reason why you wouldn't want them...I can confirm they're bloody well engineered. if you managed to damage one you will have done some extensive damage to the chassis in doing so.

infact I'm sure as a member of ******** I'd have thought you'd be especially interested in this, as you're more likely to be run over by your or other Murrgockers Jeeps..
hello mongasm

yes, i agree with you. fitting a non ADR approved bar is a potentially brilliant way to cause legal issues.

its a risk we all run.

That's where you're wrong Yom.

The manufacturer's handbook for the JK specifies that point as a vehicle tow point, not a tie down. It even goes as far as to state that it is to be used for the recovery of a vehicle.

AEV Tow Loops (it's designed to run a J8 style tow loop), Off Road Light Brackets and Stainless Steel Mesh are all sold separately.

As with all AEV Bumpers, the construction is heavy gauge steel and unlike other aftermarket products, has a unique triple stage coating process of E-coat, zinc-rich primer, and a top coat of durable textured black powder coating. Textured Black Touch Up Paint is also available.
AEV is also introducing a new Top Cover Plate for customers who run the Bumper without a winch.
Based on the above highlighted section I would say its not ADR approved...
