Sadly have had that stupid recall done on the car against my will and it also played havoc with my selector for low range…...(edit) ... I was lucky I had the winch because I was trying to get out of a river bank with the 2 tonne van on when I found the low range wouldn’t work. Almost cooked my battery winching but it work like a dream!
Well his Jeep dealer came out with the same old BS.."Never heard of it" so mate sat down with them and Googled it....Surprise surprise..They had to eat their words...When will they get it??...

Hey Clarky, do you think that's enough reward for the 20 years.....Haha!

Good to hear that you are keeping your 2nd investment.

Envy of you doing the Cape......maybe one day for me. At least you have the snorkel....

Cheers, Craig

Did the Cape with my WG V8 Grand a few years back..No snorkel & had to take the hose off the airbox out and turn it up towards the windscreen to get it high enough..No filtering but no water in either..After crossing turned it back around and reconnected it..Bit of a pain with so many crossings but made the OTT no worries. The Patrol with me sank in the Gunshot..His wife wasn't happy when she open the doors and half the creek flowed out...Not a drop in the Grand..Great trip but Cannibal Crk had me worried though.

OTT is a bit off topic but really needed 4WD low range especially on Palm Crk and Bridge Crk to name a few....So hope the N23 thing is sorted by then..Be a bugger if you loose 4WD low at the wrong time....When I went the recovery cost was about $10,000 I think..Jeep assist or the RAC(State) will have a hernia if you ask.

I'm still considering myself lucky for not getting the recall done. I have no issues with it so far. Far out I feel sorry for you guys and that would really piss me off if I had to go back and forth to get it "fixed".

I'm still monitoring this thread to find out when it will be properly fixed before I do anything stupid, and I hope I never have to go to the dealer for anything so they don't do the update without my knowledge.

bjm, good luck mate!

Not having it done does pose a legal issue...It is a safety recall that all owners have been notifed (well original at least..not sure about second or third etc)....This is why Jeep dealers do it as a matter of course...Duty of Care blaa blas...Now as far as I'm aware nobody in Australia has or has reported accidental shift into neutral...Safety recalls like this are universal regardless of country of sale.....I stand to be corrected on this but alway thought that all accidents reported due to inadvertent shift into neutral happened with the remote start option (not available here)...Safety is paramount in the eyes of the law so I'd check where you stand by not having it done.

Product information

Product description
2006-2010 Jeep Commander and 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Identifying features
WH-Grand Cherokee and XH Jeep Commander
What are the defects?
Some circuit boards may transmit compromised signals that cause inadvertent gearshifts to neutral on start-up.

Note: Although vehicles in the US are sold with remote start, this option was not available on Australian vehicles.
What are the hazards?
Vehicles may shift into neutral on start-up, causing the vehicle to roll if on an incline.

As customers are already in the vehicle on start up, this may prevent the hazard from occuring, as the foot should be on the brake on start-up.

Where the product was sold
Nationally
Traders who sold this product
Authorised Chrysler Jeep Dodge retailers
Supplier
Fiat Chrysler Group
What should consumers do?
Chrysler will send a letter to affected owners. Chrysler dealers will perform a software update at no cost to customers to prevent the occurence.
Even says shouldn't be a problem in Australia.
