Actually the position of the NRMA from what I can see is exactly that: nothing but EVs from 2030 with no new petrol cars after that. I can't see how this is a "beat up" by the Daily Mail which has simply reported on what is the NRMA's widely stated and published position and many times over. In reality the NRMA has done a pretty extensive job on its own beat up in this regard.
There is always a danger of biting off more than can be chewed and I think that planned timetables etc for EVs are way too ambitious.
On the point of talking only Jeep on this forum, since when was this the case? Are Jeep owners/drivers not allowed to present a viewpoint as they see fit, and on this forum. Gee, there are any number of posts that have little to do with Jeeps that I have read over the years. Probably added to as well, for which I do not apologise. Many of them are great posts. Stimulating and enlightening.
I tend to think that going with the flow is a good way of operating in the world, and a healthy tongue in cheek attitude helps a lot too. Creeping censorship of what ever type ought to be brought to the fore and rejected.
Also, re:
"By definition, those (conspiracist and inflammatory) comments are pretty objective descriptors of the post’s content.
The point remains: this isn’t a political forum or a personal social media account, so let’s avoid the divisive stuff and focus on Jeeps."
I think they are very subjective descriptors: there is nothing objective about them and why should there be? Notwithstanding imperfect prose, I think members have responded as best they can to bring forward their points of view. This I think should always be encouraged regardless of who may object. We still live in a country with free speech and liberal democratic principles underpinning our society. Disagreement breeds strength: it doesn't mean that it is necessarily "divisive".
Just adding a bit more to my tuppence worth. Nah, probably 2 bob's worth by now!!
