Yeah that's all I've thought is left to do...

Sorry for you to leave this way Tuffeb, I really feel your pain.
Cherokee has been my rig of choice, sorry It didn't do it for you, Patrols are good, and I have respect for them.
But I like my 4x4's built with spanners not chopsticks

Before you go blow your cash,
How is your Radiator cap? (try a different one)
When was the last time you changed your tranny fluid?
I find it runs hotter Thermostat out, and have you looked at dual falcon thermos?
Edit, Aso look at Changing your Engine oil, filter and running the correct weight.

Ill get a new one today, it Dosent leak but I dunno ill try anything

Might be a stupid one but what about exhaust leak?

Manifold is cracked in both motors I have noticed at the y piece

Under bonnet temps have all ways been high

Looking at a reverse cowl scoop for it next

I have tried to fit the falcon fans looks impossible
Any one got a write up?
I have a few spare sets I can hack up n make fit

Twin falcon fans are the best

Thats good

I Just bought a pair, I'll be throwing them in soon, I will happily make a write up if anyone could benefit from it, the sizes are right,(height, width and depth) but the best bit is that the Falcon fans haul a whopping 3000-3500 CFM unlike the stock thermo's pissy 1500 CFM, so its pretty attractive
say, was your cowl in tact? and your electric thermo cutting in and out right?

Clever thinking with the leak, but unfortunately it will make a very trivial difference. under bonnet temps are always phenomenal ( hotter than the fires of hell)

For your sake, my bet is on the radiator cap.
I guess considering you've now put a different engine in, do you know the history of the engine? Has it had overheating problems before you put it in your car? Is the fan clutch, water pump etc in it ok?
Does the top radiator hose hold pressure?

Came out of last xj
Good strong motor that used to run hot when wheeling otherwise was ok

Not running a clutch fan, Davies Craig 10 inch thermo works we radiator is cold when car is at 100 ish

Gwts warmer but still can touch the rad when car is boiling

does your electric fan have a shroud?

you dead set positive that a single 10" craig-davis fan (assuming it has a shroud) is a equal replacement to a mechanical clutch fan with a shroud?

a serviceable, working xj mechanical fan is often described as a roar. I have yet to hear any one describe any brand of 10" fan in those terms.

When is the single 10" fan triggered? does it start at 90*c like a mechanical fan or does it switch on with the the aux fan at ~ 105*c?

My 12" taurus fan, with a tight fitting shroud, ( switches on at 105*c, with the aux fan) pulls 3000 cfm in low, and when wheeling i sometimes put it in hi which supposedly is 4000 cfm+. and that is working in conjunction with the OEM aux fan ( that is 5500+ CFM).- it works well.
3x10" fans with custom shrouds is another common solution.

you sure you got enough fan?
