Default XJ 98' 2.5TD VM Power loss

The dealership or a mechanic with a DRB III would also be able to rule out a no1. I believe it throws a code for it

Does anyone know a mechanic in Brisbane that has a DRB III, I assume Hammonds would have one?. I checked the resistance in the sensor and I can't even get a recording. If I unplug the sensor it makes no difference to the performance and it still loses power the same way at just above 2000 rpm. Having said that it's surprising how drivable (without a load) it is with it disconnected. Maybe I'll be surprised at the extra power once its fixed. From what I have found on another thread the last new purchase of a new No.1 injector was from France at about $400.

Matt,
You have done the resistance test & found it to be open circuit. This shows that the sensor is stuffed. No need to waste your money on a dealer DBR111 check. Sorry to say it but you need to get a replacement #1 injector. Have a look in the XJ parts sticky for more details of where to get them.

I seraching for another peddle sensor to test. But its not easy to find here

which central reading the sensors? that is inside the car (behind the panel) or that is in the engine compartment?

thanks guys!

Hi Fabio

I had the same problem on my jeep.

Solved the problem by having the turbo serviced as the waste gate was not sealin due to carbon build up. ( 270 000) km on the speedo.

Interesting suggestion, worth considering.
Something that is more likely if the engine is worked hard when cold.
When the engine is warm carbon doesnt tend to build up in the turbo. This could be fuel dependent as well. More often there is an issue with the wastegate jamming shut. A few of us have had this.

Welcome Veg XJ.
I take it from your name that you are running a VM on veg oil.
If you are we would be interested to hear of the out come.
I would be concerned about the plastic components in the IP, with the electronic control there are lots of plastic pits inside the IP that one would expect to be damaged by veg oil.
Are you located in a cool climate? Always good to have your location shown in the top RH corner.
