Half Way into replacing the cj dash with a yj dash. Easy enough to cut and swap the yj dash plate from LHD to RHD, and while I was joining that up with welder I added gauge cut outs to fit after market gauges to the centre panel. Also the stock YJ tacho and speedo got white back grounds and painted orange needles. I did a test fit last night and all looks good to go, now just finish cleaning up the wires.

Dash all but done, now I have a CJ7 with a Black YJ Dash, all in all not that hard to swap over once you have most of the parts, the only snag I have is my hot/cold vent switch works arse about. The YJ tacho also needed me to pull it apart and wire a 5k pot in to d-tune it down cause it was from a 6 not a V8 chev.

Hi Shafus
what brand uni did you use on the Steering box, and can you post a pic of the machined shaft, I've got a Borgeson uni for my HQ power box, but am either going to have to machine the shaft as you've done, or broach some splines out
to get it to work, would be nice if they had one that would fit

cheers
Mike

I used a flaming River universal joint, cost about $100 buck in australia about half the price if your get from the states. (http://www.andrewsracecars.com.au/category_36.html ) You will have to machine the shaft to 3/4 DD is what I done, the box will need to be apart to do, this is when I had it rebuilt. 3/4 DD is the size of the rod that is part of the steering shaft, so when you order the universal get a length of 3/4 DD shaft, then just cut to length. Will try to get a picture of the setup later

Sorry forgot to say that you can not get any joint that is a straight bolt on to the holden power steering box, manual steering yes its 3/4 36. I dont know about other power steering box splines jeep might be different, there are plenty of different combos of joint.

Thanks for the info, I think the power boxes, would be 13/16 36, if they were splined, all around the shaft, I've just got a reco box, so, I'll try and avoid, stripping it to machine the shaft, and, get the uni machined instead,
but first I'll check with Borgeson, the Oz, distributer, reckons they have extra uni's not listed in their catalogue.
