Ok I split the transmission adaptor/mount plate but I found no gasket. Four bolts and off she comes.
When looking at photos of all of the gasket kits for the QT it seems as though there is a gasket for this.
It also looks as though there is an oil well whereby if the transmission oil does make it through the back to back oil seals, it will only escape through the well.
I think this must have been what mine was doing as the oil seals seem a little stiff and one is cracked.
I'll have a go at getting the seals out tonight and I'll try Allied Bearings to see if they can part match. If not it's a seal kit through Quadratec.

Ok....those seals do not come out the front ....
I'll need to operate. I'll order a seal kit and hopefully it will be here in a week or two. I like the look of a rebuild kit but I think I was looking at $250. So I might just go for the seal kit.
I checked the belt too, as there's a "poke hole" ... as all good things should have. The belt was tight with only maybe 5mm of movement so it must be a relatively new belt.

Fueled by a Broncos win and a couple little white cans, the transfer case went back together last night.
I was able to get the seals from a bearing shop, and got some high temp RTV silicone ...... mmmmmm ..... silicone
Also got some gasket paper too.
I'll post pictures over the weekend.

Default Quadratrac Seal Replacement

Ok so the first picture shows where the leak was from. The big arrow shows where the oil was gathering on the bottom surface. It has just eaten the transmission mount.
On the back of the transmission there's an adaptor plate. I had a slow leak (transmission oil) from what seemed to be between the adaptor plate and the Quadratrac.
First step was to get the Quadratrac out.
Four bolts and the Qudratrac should be off.
Once it was off it became obvious I had a problem with the back to back seals that should stop the transmission oil entering the transfer case.
There was no gasket between the transmission and transfer case which all pictures of seal kits indicated there would be ?

First picture is the closeup of the back to back seals. Inspection found the first seal split and both seals brittle and needing replacement.
The Quadratrac is NOT a light transfercase by any means and takes some lifting onto the bench ..
You'll need to remove the electric 4WD indicator switch to continue as it will impede undoing one of the bolts.
Also there is a couple longer bolts through the "high low" unit you'll need to pay attention to.

Default Quadratrac Seal Replacement

With the Quadratrac split it was time to try to get the seals out.
I had tried to pull them out with the case still together to no avail.
At numerous failed attempts I thought they must have only been able to be tapped back into the case to be removed.
It turns out you can pull them out the front without splitting the transfer case.
I would recomend splitting the case though and the next post should indicate why - There is a drain well you need to place both seals either side of. It's to allow any oil passing the first seal to drain away.
I tapped the bottom seal through and then the top.
