That's a lot of gas . CO2 is slightly cheaper here in NZ but given your likely use I'd probably go for a top end compressor and tank as well.

Only problem with the scuba tanks they dont have anywhere near the capacity of the co2 tanks of the same size, as co2 is a liquid that turns to gas when released, also from memory scuba tanks need a hydro every year compared to 10 years on the co2 tanks

And the pricing is actually slightly worse as i suspect that you'll not be actually running the cylinder fully out - so you loose a few tire fills each time you change over or suffer with an empty on the trail.

Carrying a second cylinder would fix that but just doesn't seem that practical or cost effective.
