It will be interesting to see if it is a solution other then an a oem tow hitch if they will be able to supply an engineering certificate that has been approved by Australian design rules, impact (crash) testing reports etc...

Has anyone without a towbar been in to a dealer for fitment or to find out details on what is actually being fitted?

well towbars in Australia have to pass Australian Standards anyway, so fitting of the towbar should be enough, keep in mind its only to address a low speed rear end collision.

Other brands of vehicles still have a fuel tank in the rear. A Land Rover Defender is one such example, although to be fair it does sit between the two chassis rails and does have a decent steel bash plate.

I got my letter months ago, I really cant be arsed as it does have a towbar.

Regards
Daz

Is there anyone here who has had the 'brace' fitted to their kj as they didn't have a towbar fitted? Can you post some pics of the installed item please?

they check to see if the back section of the hitch doesn't hit the back of fuel tank causing to to crack/break and leak fuel , they messure to see if hitch clears , if it does no problem if it doesn't a strap needs to go in.
