Propaganda - no motive from me other than a desire to see quality mods out there that have been through the correct channels.
As for my proposed senario, it wasn't BS it was hypothetical. Maybe in that particular example I could be wrong I am no law expert.
I avoid accidents and dealing with assesors or insurance companies as much as I can.
But the reason I waded into this whole thing is because the main BS is the suggestion by you 2 that someone shouldn't get an engineering report.
Remember there are a whole range of people out there reading and this just sends the wrong message.

Over & out from me.

My last post on this topic.
I was not saying not to get a engineers report i was just pointing out the fact that if you happen to not have one its not what people make it out to be and the laws are very loose hear.

Im pretty sure that I've heard someone say that you still get in trouble if you hurt someone and you do have a report and its only for the cops in case you get pulled up so they can see on the side of the road that its sweet.

Any way if your driving a car regardless what it is and your in the wrong and kill someone you should be in jail. Get and engineers certificate so when the jacks pull you up, you can sit back while they go over you mates rig.

a good friend of mine was driving his hilux down the street (lifted, 33's, NO front bar, NOT engineered) and a child stepped out from the parked cars and under the side of the hilux, kid was hit by the back wheel and killed on the spot.

now some may remember this as it was on the front page of many nsw papers and the blame was on modified 4wd owners

the cops had his hilux for ages and it was deemed that it wasnt his fault
I have driven modified cars with no cert, and my mates panelshop works hand-in-glove with the assesors too.

with your mate, criminal law DOES require (defined) proof, unless it was wet, bald tyres stop good, and they must have decided nothing he could have done, so no reasonable prospect of conviction.

I know of another case where the owner was jailed, as his vehicle had defective brakes and tyres (and a death occurred)

Thats different to commercial law...if ANYONE can show wording of their Insurance policy that DOESNT have a null & void paragraph, I will eat a girls frilly knickers.

If the damage bill is $200k, the insurance co will decline and see you in court
