Careful you don't offend a wheeler with 5000w with your 100w low beam.
that's embarrassing.

Good luck!! Dont get burned !!!
metho combines with water so use metho as a final flush and a little bit of metho will pass through the system.

That's what I have been told to do (steam it) but I don't have the coin at the moment to do that.As for possible rust in the tank, it's kind of hard to tell because the entire inside of the tank is a rusty brown colour.I assume alot of it with be dirt that has been in the fuel I have removed but not sure about rust. The outside of the tank looks to be in pretty good nick for the 14 year old Jeep.

At the moment I'm getting 2 new strap bolts made at the local spring works $45 inc GST, so it isn't going back in this week but hopefully the weekend. Been thiking about doing the metho thing too.Might have to look into a bit further Thanks for the advice, guys.

Any recommendations for cleaning out the tank?? The guys at work have told me to use boiling water as the steam will clean things better.
I would blow it out with a water blaster, maybe throw in a couple of jugs of hot water, keep going till the crud stops coming out. Then tune it upside down to drain- in a sunny spot. What does not run out will evaporate out in a day or to.
Good luck with it.

Hi JC I don't like to bear bad news but it sounds like the tank might be rusty inside rather than that much dirt. That being the case you may end up needing to do what I did carve it up and sandblast it, then weld it back up. With your sender and pump out you should be able to shine a torch inside and see the rust. Once you blast it out with a hose you will know for sure as the inside will still be brown.

Well with everything I've been through with this Jeep it wouldn't surprise me if is rusty. We have a gerni so I'll give it a hose out and hope for the best but it would explain alot if it is rust

Since you have a gerni you might be able to acid out the tank? I tried but was unsucessful as my tank had baffles so I could not remove the loosend rust past the baffles. The difficulty will be soon as you remove the rust with water it will take less than 30mins to surface rust again, hence by the time it is dry it will already start to oxidise.
