And dont forget Karma.... Not to mention getting someone un bogged is almost as much fun as getting bogged. There is always something new you can learn in every recovery I say.

I used to think that way but the lack of appreciation shown has started to change my mind. Saying that i will probably help out if there is little chance nobody else will.

I too was knocked when looking at buying a 4wd, when I told my Toyota 75 series cruiser owning son in-law he said you bought a f###ing what.

But on a recent trip to the cape, we came down to a creek crossing that had a very long steep bank of potholed white clay on the other side, there were 2 Patrols winding up their winch ropes and said good luck getting a Jeep up that.

Then one noticed my camper trailer and just laughed as he said and they are towing, would have loved to see their faces, they stood to watch and we towed all the way to the top, after walking it and working out the best way, but hardly spun a wheel.

My XJ did not let me down, and yes I used 21l/100k as an average for the trip, but I spoke to a 4.0 turbo diesel Patrol owner at Seisia and he had achieved 17.4l/100k towing his camper, so considering you could buy 3 or 4 XJs for the price of his Patrol a 4l/100k penalty is cheap.

That's awsome Rob, I like stories like that.

I've always been one to wait and see how a vehicle performs before I slag it off, and even then I wont slag it off too much because it will probably have advantages in other areas, but there are some people out there who just dont get it. Good to see they are being put back in their box.

Nothing else has the character of a Jeep... Don't buy that other rubbish eg: Bits-r-sh*tty Pajero,Toy Luiser or Pissin Pootrol...
I used to be a fan of the Nissan's and Toyota's back in the day of ignorance, then I bought an AMC 1982 Jeep Cherokee Sportsman just for a work-horse. At first thought it was ugly, big and would probably be in a metal recycling yard within 2 months of owning... I was more wrong than Rosanne Barr in fish-nets.

I fell for the old girl, nothin' else looked like it, sounded like it or drove like it...it was a class of it's own. 258ci 6cyl, 4sp man, Dana diffs etc.
I too copped crap from mates regarding my POS Jeep, and how the only true 4WD was a Cruiser, and only silencing them temporarily with info bits like where Jeeps came from and their history and cred. So, went 4w'ing with my Cruiser mate into Namadgi, I think he believed showing me how rubbish they are in the bush would seal the arguement for him....wrong.
The old Jeep went everywhere the Cruiser wanted to take her, and then some...many times getting 'stuck' behind the slow-assed Cruiser with many temptations to 'lightly push' him up the hill.
After the adventure, suddenly the critics were very silent, and it didn't take long for the word to get around...
So that maybe our answer? - Lets organise a 4WD trip with a difference - Jeep against everyone else! Show them all once and for good who the TRUE 4WD's are... I can almost hear the excuses coming from the Toy's and Pissin's barracks already....

All the best Jeeper's!

All you need to remember is that most of the jeep *haters* are just pissed off that their wives wouldnt let them get a jeep in the first place, so they try and justify to their own minds that they didnt really need one... BOLLOKS !!! best vehicle ive ever had ... jeep... largest amount of people commenting that my car kicks arse... jeep... most fun ive ever had (other than in the sack.. but its a fine line lol) JEEP !! bite the bullet tell your misses to get you a beer and buy the car you know you want...... JEEP FTW
