Problem has returned Very depressing. I raise it every time I take it to the dealer, but the answer is always the same - "Chrysler have no solution". Increases my resolve to sell it.

Apparently the Subaru diesel has the same issue. Since mine was fixed by the dealer, I can fill up at BP without problems if they have the older style diesel only pump. The combined style pumps at Caltex has too large a flow rate, and it takes a long time with many 'clicks' to fill up there. The servos want you to fill up fast so they can serve more customers, so they increase the flow rates.

My 69th Anniversary model doesn't like filling with the nozzle in the normal position but if I turn it upside down with the trigger up it will fill at full pressure no problems. Like JTB I haven't tried a hi-flow pump yet.

Spot on. I figured out that its all about the place you fill up at. Pumps with high flow rates combined with high froth will drive you nuts trying to fill. I found that servos with old pumps allow me to fill no problems. Just try all the servos in your area, you will eventually find one that doesn't give you any trouble. The only problem is when you tour...

So far my 2011 diesel hasn't had any problems with filling the tank. When I've had a choice, I've used to low flow nozzles.

The high flow nozzles are labelled not for auto / 4x4 use, for trucks only, I wouldn't expect them to work with a Wrangler.

Yea, except that they worked perfectly well with my 1981 Nissan MQ Patrol and I zeroed straight onto them if I saw them, unlike now where I will drive around the servo looking for the pump which is NOT high flow.

The car I have now is 27 years newer, you'd think they'd have the liquid down the pipe thing sorted. It demonstrates an alarming degree of incompetence unmatched by any modern car maker.

the problem is once again caused by daimler penny pinching. it is caused by the tiny filler hose on the thing, 28mm. go up to 32 mm and the problem goes away. they even tried to save money by using a smaller diameter , cheaper, hose. the whole vehicle was built that way, and apparently still is. fiat had promised to improve the build quality of the jk in 2013. maybe they will, but this doesn't help earlier owners who have been left to find their own solutions at their own expense. and yes there is an alarming degree of incompetance by the car maker. it happens with any american made car, they are the worst in the world except perhaps for english made cars.
